Extemporaneously Kate

Everything by the seat of my pants!

So that test.

Posted by Kate on 11:12 AM
So what was going on there was I'm building a website and I've never done it before.  I'm learning html/css and I feel like a kindergartener encountering penmanship for the first time.  (what?  this pencil isn't just for scribbling on every surface I see?)

The website is at Hookerella.com and it is very VERY beta.  beta as f*ck, if you will.  actually, Its not even beta.  its like omega or something.    There are a few links on there as well as a place to get to my blog with the fancy use of Iframes.  I made the temp logo myself though.  yaaay me.

In other news, my husband and I (omfg married?!?) are traveling out of LLL to Houston to go see a reptile show!  I'm excited because I think snakes are just unbearably cute.  And it's supposed to be a biggun'.  Animal planet is supposedly going to have a rep out there so maybe I troll him.   I want to grab a python and dance with it singing, "Trolololoolololol" in the background.

So pix on that to come.

I also saw Whip-it for the first time last night.  Why in the hell have I not seen this movie before?  I, in my best shape, am built of muscle and speed.  (srsly.)  To start up a roller derby team, which I think some of us beauty school gals will do, will be motivation enough to lose the weight!  I want my most pressing decision of the day to be deciding between hotpants or pleated mini skirt.  I'm thinking hotpants.  So prolly sometime this week i'm going to buy some quad roller skates and some pads and then to got the skating rink and hip check all the pre-teens who get in my way.  And they will call me "crazy old lady on skates."  wait no...  They will call me, "THE CRUSHINATOR!"

Test

Don't mind me.  I'm just trying something out.

inb4 shitstorm aka my thrown together wa-loli costume.

Posted by Kate on 1:04 PM
Let me just start with a few disclaimers:

1. I am a hambeast. I know this. I am (OBVIOUSLY) not a model (lawlz) and I have no interest in cosplay/lolita aside from just f*cking around for halloween. So it goes without saying that I'M DOIN' IT WRONG.

2. I fooled with the contrast/brightness on the pics. not even gonna lie.

3. I did this for fun and to get a grade @ beauty school for dressing up. I'm not looking for critique. If you feel like you need to give me some, please refer to number 1.

4. Recognize this outfit? That's because I went to a meet-up with a friend and someone took my picture. :( I thought "Meet-up" meant "Costume Party." Never went to a "meet-up" again. Hi. My name is Derp.

5. I have no association whatever with the lolita/cosplay type society.

Ok. Got that out of the way.    If you don't want to see a fat chick in a shitty costume, please move along.

:D

Just a quickie

Posted by Kate on 8:57 AM
Today @ school we are dressing up for halloween. I didn't have anything to wear so I decided to wear an old yukata I had from back in my hella-weeaboo days (i can tie my own obi. *snap snap snap head swivel*) and make a sort of wa-lolita type outfit. i'm not into lolita as in I don't go out of my way to buy/wear/meetup. But I do like looking at the outfits people have put together and by looking around at pics that's how I found out what wa-loli is.

Thank god I'm just wearing this at beauty school where no one will know wtf i'm doing. they'll probably just think i'm some sort of "sexy geisha" or some crap like that. Which is just fine because i'd rather get that than the lolita community screaming "LOLI FAIL!"

you know, because it's hard being lolita when you're 28. call me crazy but it just seems like a stretch.

So anyway, since its my first prog pix day for the anti-hambeast campaign, you gets to see it. but not till later. lol XD

Anti-Hambeast Campaign

Posted by Kate on 2:39 PM
Now before you flip out on me with "EVERYONE IS BEAUTIFUL IN THEIR OWN WAY" and "STICKS ARE UGLY CURVES ARE BEAUTIFUL!" Let me say this:
zSHARE - whuteva.mp3

So anyway, I'm starting a separate blog just for myself, really. I'm not even going to lie. I'm a big ol' girl. In high school I was a good looking kid but now, ten years later, I'm looking pretty rough. I'm just sick and tired of it so I've been making changes. The Anti-hambeast Campaign is just a documentation of my weight loss journey. I'm giving myself two years to get to my ideal weight. Two years seems like a long time but I want to make life style changes and embed them into my persona so deep that it would take years of regression therapy to make me fat again. I really want to be in the best shape of my life by the time I hit the big 30 so when I'm bawwwwing because I'm thirty, at least I can say "I be lookin' good."

I just wanted to put that out there. Probably more for myself because if I publicly say I'm going to do something, I'm more likely to do it because I don't want to have to go back and say, "oops."

For you youngins.

Fucking Tuesdays.

Posted by Kate on 10:04 AM
**I don't know who is sensitive about cursing but here's a fair warning, This entry contains foul language. Just like all the rest of them.**

Being an old lady of 28 years, I have found two things about my life that I utterly hate.

1. I can't drink like I used to because my body has finally put it's foot down and said no.
2. I can't stay up past 11pm and expect to wake up at 6am bright eyed and bushy tailed.

It's just not fair, man.

Which brings me to today's topic of FUCKING TUESDAYS.  For some reason last night I thought it was a good idea to stay up past my bedtime watching movies and crocheting.  (Wild night, guyz)  I didn't get to bed until 1am. :O  So naturally I wake up the next morning at 7:30 when my alarm was set to 6.  It's god damned crazy hair day @ the beauty school and I wanted to wear a wig.  Pretty crazy stuff.  So in my rush to get my wig on straight and not look too stupid, get my ass to school, and make it in time for our test, I forgot ALL of my supplies at home.  ALL OF THEM.

ALL

OF

THEM.

Naturally I had to come back home because you can't do hair if you don't have any damned shears.  I guess I could have gnawed their hair into shape but I wasn't hungry.  So here I am with a cup of coffee, typing here about my fail.

But my coffee cup looks AWESOME!

Over the weekend I went to Austin with my bff Manders.  At one of the museums we went to there was a cup and saucer set that I needed.  Yes.  I NEEDED it.  It had a peacock print on it and I <3 peacocks.  No lie.  Manders and I split the cost and she wrote it off as an early x-mas present.

I think I'll spend the rest of today writing another blog about Momoko's in Austin and then cleaning out my computer.  Pix and music all over the damned place.

This is why you ALWAYS patch test

Posted by Kate on 5:32 PM
You should always do a patch test when you are using a new hair color. not just new dye, but a new color! There are tons of chemicals that can fuck you up if you don't know that you're allergic.

I'm just looking out for you guys. fo'realz.

Nose piercing

Posted by Kate on 11:00 PM
So I got my nose pierced over the weekend in Austin.  I got it done at Affinity Body Piercing on 6th Street.  I had wanted to do this for a few years and had checked them out a month ago when I was in Austin for a hair show.  I was impressed by their professionalism and knowledge just over the phone.  That's why I chose to go there when I finally did the deed.

Victor Vandoren is the gentleman who shoved his finger up my nose and then later stabbed it with a very sterile piece of metal.  It was all very magical, I assure you.  They had a lovely selection of jewelry, the studio was clean, and everyone had that look that says "I know my shit."   They showed me their sterilization process as well as their maintenance records on their machinery.    They also provided me with extensive and accurate information on the piercing, including what to expect and after care.

All in all, I paid $75 bucks for the jewelry and the piercing and I feel like I got what I paid for.  I mean that in a good way.  The nose stud he used was by NeoMetal.  It was titanium with a flat back like you would see on a labret stud.  It also didn't have threads.  Just kind of popped and locked into the post.

So after the paperwork, and the tour, and the sterilization process, he marked my nose and then had me lay down on the table.  Then he cleaned out my left nostril.   To have your nose picked by someone else is a strange sensation.  Afterwards the world smelled of soap. :)  Next came a sterile plastic tube which was inserted into my nose to give the needle and nose something to stabilize against.  Then I took a breath, let it out, and in went the needle.

Now, I've had piercings before.  I've got my earlobes done with three holes in each, and my eyebrow pierced.  All of these were bearable.  If I had to make a scale of pain, I'd say the cartilage ear piercing was the most painful/annoying and my eyebrow was the least painful.   Getting my nose pierced was somewhere in the middle.

Ok. Needle is in.  That's when things get kind of fuzzy because it happened pretty fast.  But the next thing I knew, the post was in and the needle was being pulled out, then the back was on and I was pierced! :D  I was sore for about ten minutes if that.  All I'm doing for aftercare is not touching it.  NO TOUCHIE!!  All it gets is a saline bath twice a day.  That's it.  According to my piercer, my body will handle the rest if I stay out of the way.  It's pretty touch to not poke at it but I'm doing my best.  I want this piercing to heal well and heal quickly.

Today, one day later, no problems.  I'm not even sore.  I thought I would be but nope.  No tenderness, no redness.  I am very pleased with the experience thus far. ^__^

How To Live (Comfortably) on $36 A Month For Food | Andrew Hyde

Saturday in Austin.

Posted by Kate on 2:42 PM
I went to Austin yesterday with my childhood best friend.  We've been friends since elementary school.  Almost a solid 20 years.  Wowza.

Anywhoo, Manders wanted to go see a few museums for extra credit in her college drawing class and invited me along.  I wish I could have taken pictures of the exhibits we saw because they were amazing.  We saw one of the Gutenberg Bibles and the first ever photograph in the Harry Ransom Center which is on the UT Campus.  I had never actually been on the UT campus.  It was really pretty.  I wish I could have taken pictures of what we saw in that museum but cameras weren't permitted.  :(  there was some douchebag who was taking pictures but I didn't want to be that asshole who can't follow directions.

We also went to a musemum  that was dedicated to women artists.  I didn't get many pictures of that but I did get a few.

So what was nifty.  We went to a few other museums but I'm not really the "artsy" type.    I can't help it.  I'm just not that into art.  It's either pretty or ugly.  Cool or lame.  I still had fun dangling my toes in something I don't usually indulge in.

What was TOTALLY FREAKING AWESOME was the Museum of Weird on 6th street.

Museum of the Weird
They had this cool shop with campy horror type stuff and in the back, the museum.  Even further back, this cool magician who let me chain him up and then told my fortune.  No lie.

That was so cool.  So very cool.  Wow.  I don't know how to arrange photos on my blog.  XD  We also went to momoko's but I am kind of annoyed at the fact that I didn't plan this blog out better.  I'm going to probably upload these pics to my webpage adn then just link them so there's not a clusterfuck of pix here.  ^_^()

I also got my nose pierced.  i'll write a separate blog on that later.

All in all I had a blast with Manders!

Learning a new stitch and Watching South Park Online

Posted by Kate on 4:38 PM
Sorry. I don't mean to treat this like Facebook or Twitter so forgive me if my blogs get pretty candid or "hey-guyz-i'm-eating-InsertFoodHere" But I just had to say that I didn't know you could watch South Park online for free. I had been watching on NetFlix but they only had till Season 12. Well it turns out that you can watch @ South Park Studios for free. Honest to GAWD free. I may be late on that train but at least I got there. Granted there are commercials but the spots are about 1:30min long. I do not watch television unless I can catch it on the internet so this is awesome for me.

So I'm watching SP and learning a new crochet stitch. It's called the Star Stitch and I've shied away from it because I thought it was going to be really complicated. Holy crap it's easy. I'm working on making a hook case with that stitch. I found the pattern here at Alli Crafts.  I've never used a pattern from here but I'm liking it so far.   I'm not going to do the roll up version though.  I think i'm going to make two panels of star stitch and then sew them to some plastic canvas for rigidity.  Then crochet the full rectangle of star stitch and sew it to the other side of the plastic canvas and make like a hook book.

 Lol  "hook book."

If I'm lucky, I'll finish it tomorrow.

Crochet

Posted by Kate on 3:36 PM
I was totally going to clear my desk of today but I decided to watch movies, veg out, and crochet. I bought some cheap assed yarn today but i loved the collor. It's Caron's Simply Soft yarn in Plum Perfect. I think I'll make a pair of arm warmers with them and a matching cloche. Maybe a matching hand bag.

Bitches don't know bout mah mad crochet skillz.

Seriously, they don't. They just see some tattooed and pierced girl and say, "Now there's a girl who would probably cut a bitch." And I probably wouldn't. But I'll crochet and complain about you in the privacy of my computer room at home.

Side note. Just came back from the bathroom. I put my panties on inside out. I swear this happens at least once a week.

Funky Dream

Posted by Kate on 1:57 AM
I can't sleep for some stupid reason. Probably because I have a lot on my mind right now about school and what I want to do tomorrow. A bunch of random assed crap but just enough crap to keep my mind from shutting down for the night.

and my tummy is feeling icky.

So I'll just tell you about this dream I had last night.

I guess there's really not too much to tell because only one part stuck out. I dreamt that I was going to a reunion but it was a reunion of people i had known through out elementary school through high school.

I remember being pretty excited to see all these people again since some of them i hadn't seen in almost 20 years. True to my nature, I was late to the gathering. It was in a bar/restaurant type place with intimate booths and swanky lighting. I remember the walls being purple and the booths being charcoal grey.

so I walk in an I just know where they are so I go there. There are about 20 people there adn they take up three booth spaces. When I see everyone, the instantly recognize me and they're very happy to see me. I recognize most of everyone and those who my eyes don't recognize, my other senses do. There are hugs all around and its just one big emotional reunion between me and people I grew up with in school. I remember telling everyone that even though i hadn't seen them in years, i thought of them every day. It was a happy moment. I felt elated and really loved.

Suddenly I got to feeling scared. i don't know why but I was thinking that this must be what it is like when you die. You go to whatever afterlife you believe in and you are reunited with all the people who enriched your life. Suddenly it wasn't happy anymore. It was sad. I just kept thinking that I was dead but I wasn't ready and even though I was surrounded by people I loved, I wasn't ready to be dead yet. It was terrifying.

then I woke up. And I was in a pissy mood the rest of the day.

Here she is. I finished her in about two days. I haven't done amigurumi in a while so it's shakey. Plus my picture taking skills are less than mad.

Never Photoshop Your Facebook Self-Photos [Pic] | I Am Bored

Oh look. A blog.

Posted by Kate on 6:09 PM
So I have this blog now.  Blog fifty billion in a long long line of blogs.  I'd never used blogger but Pen said it was a-ok.

Well I got my scooter back from the repair shop.  Apparently this new fangled eathanol gas can be bad for a scoot.  Good too know.  I wish I had known that 200 bucks ago before they had to diagnose the problem and clean out the carb, change the battery (wtf that had to do with the gas, i'll never know), and give me a new spark plug.  Moral of the story: Ride as often as possible and if you don't, at least put some Sta-bil in the bitch to keep it clean.

I'm just glad it's back.  Now I can putt-putt to school and back with my mannequin heads flapping in the breeze tied down to the basket on my scooter.  That really freaks people out.  XD

Since Penny is referring to our town of suckage as lala land (LLL) I guess I will too.  Freaking LLL.  Driving is so crappy down here.  I'm glad I have a car to supplement my scooter.  Damn transportation habit.

Well i'm off to do some crochet.  hellz yeah.
