You should always do a patch test when you are using a new hair color. not just new dye, but a new color! There are tons of chemicals that can fuck you up if you don't know that you're allergic.

Holy crap that is scary! I have dyed my hair for about 10 years now and have never done an allergy test. I might start doing that now.

@ Deranged- I never did patch tests either for the longest time but when I started going to Beauty School, patch tests always!

This is so true! Dying hair at home is so much more dangerous and risky than people know. Girls are just too excited to have a new hair color, so they plop the dye on their head and they end up having an ugly color. But I knew just bad hair color couldn't be the most awful outcome.

Been dying at home since I was like 6...started with vegetable dyes though, so I guess that's good?

Sucks for her though. :(
